Hosting and server logs

This website is hosted by STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. STRATO also provides the email mailboxes.

When you access the website or a redirect, your IP address is processed to deliver the requested content. Server logs may include the time, requested address, browser details and any errors. Processing is necessary to provide the website, analyse errors and maintain security. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; my legitimate interest is the secure and reliable operation of the website.

Supported browsers may preload pages from this website before you visit them. The technical data described above may therefore be generated before you click a link.

STRATO also generates aggregated access statistics from the server logs, for example on page views, referring pages, browsers and originating domains, which I can view in my customer account. According to STRATO, hostnames or IP addresses are modified in the logs that I can retrieve. I use this data for secure operation, error analysis and an aggregated overview of access, and I do not combine it with other data. The server-side statistical analysis is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. My legitimate interest is to obtain an aggregated overview of how my portfolio is used.

According to STRATO, website visitors’ IP addresses are stored for a maximum of seven days to detect and defend against attacks. STRATO makes access logs for the last six weeks and error logs for the last five days available to me. These availability periods are not a general deletion period for all log data processed by STRATO.

Session storage in your browser

To support navigation within the catalogue and between language versions, the website stores technical information in your browser’s session storage. This includes the selected view, the work displayed, filter and scroll states, and information for returning to a previous view and for page transitions. These entries are not used for visitor analytics or advertising. They apply to the current page session; your browser may restore them when restoring tabs. Requests for stored internal destination addresses generate the connection data described under “Hosting and server logs”.

Where this storage is necessary for the navigation you have requested, it is based on Section 25(2) no. 2 of the German Telecommunications and Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG). Where personal data is processed, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; my legitimate interest is to provide a usable website.

The language version is determined by the web address you access. No cookie is stored for language selection.

The website does not set analytics or advertising cookies for visitors.

Visitor statistics

To find out which pages of my portfolio are used, I use the WordPress plugin Independent Analytics. It records the pages accessed and the time of access, the source of a visit and technical information about the browser, operating system and device type. This allows me to determine page view counts, the sequence of pages visited and session durations. For this purpose, the measurement script sends the previously visited page (referrer) and any campaign and advertising parameters in the address to this website. The version in use stores only the referring domain or a source category from this information, not full campaign data. Search terms or the requested address may also be recorded on search and error pages.

Your IP address is processed briefly to determine an approximate location, including country, region and city, using a local database, and to create a pseudonymous visitor identifier together with your browser identifier (user agent) and a random value that changes daily. Your IP address itself is not stored for these statistics. The identifier allows several page views to be associated with one visit.

No cookies are set and neither your browser’s local storage nor its session storage is used for these statistics. Measurement requests go exclusively to this website; the statistics data is stored on my web space at STRATO and is not transferred to the plugin provider or other third parties. It is automatically deleted after about 30 days. It may remain in the host’s backup copies for up to about two weeks longer. I analyse it only in aggregated form, do not combine it with other data and do not attempt to identify individual visitors.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. My legitimate interest is to obtain an aggregated overview of how my portfolio is used in order to improve its content and presentation. You may object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation; a short message to contact@danielman.de is sufficient.

Local content and links to other websites

The fonts and images used are delivered through this website’s hosting. Google or Adobe font services, external maps, videos and social network content are not automatically embedded.

The links to Instagram and to Galerie Andreas Binder are plain links. The website does not automatically load content from these providers. If you follow a link to another website, that provider’s privacy policy applies to its processing of your data.

Technical maintenance and editorial access

Authorised members of the project team carry out setup, maintenance and troubleshooting of this website. In doing so they may have access to personal data processed on the website. Authorised members of the project team also use the editorial area.

Contact by email

If you email me, I process your email address, message and any information you provide to deal with your enquiry and reply to you. I read your message. STRATO processes the data required to provide the mailbox.

There is no contact form. Clicking the email address opens your own email application; a message is sent only when you send it from that application.

For general enquiries, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR and my legitimate interest in responding to enquiries. If your enquiry concerns a contract or steps taken at your request before entering into a contract, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. Providing this information is voluntary; without the information needed to reply, I may not be able to deal with your enquiry.

I delete general enquiries once they have been fully dealt with and no questions remain outstanding. Messages relating to a contract are retained until the contract has been fully performed. Where individual messages are subject to a statutory retention obligation as business correspondence, they are generally retained for six years; accounting records are generally subject to an eight-year retention period under Section 147 of the German Fiscal Code (Abgabenordnung). The period begins at the end of the calendar year in which the message was received or sent, or the accounting record was created. Statutory extensions remain unaffected. The data is deleted when the applicable period has expired. The legal basis for statutory retention is Article 6(1)(c) GDPR.

Your rights

Subject to the applicable legal conditions, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict the processing of and receive your personal data in a portable format (Articles 15 to 20 GDPR). You may withdraw any consent you have given at any time, with effect for the future. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before it. To exercise your rights, please contact contact@danielman.de.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority relevant to me is the Bavarian Data Protection Authority for the private sector (Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht, BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany: www.lda.bayern.de. You may also contact another competent authority, for example where you live or work.

Right to object

You may object to processing based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR on grounds relating to your particular situation. You can send your objection to contact@danielman.de.
